Architecture should be imaginative,

ECLECTIC AND TIMELESS.

HÁM Architecture brings architectural design fully in house — architecture, build and interiors working together from the very first sketch to the final finish.

Led by Tom Cox and Director of Architecture Meg Hudson RIBA ARB, the team works across sympathetic restorations and new builds of all scales — from large estates and country houses to townhouses and coastal cottages. With a deep understanding of heritage buildings and a genuine fascination for new spaces that embody classical elements, each project is grounded in tradition, shaped for modern life, and designed to sit comfortably in its setting — always with a touch of the unexpected.

We work closely with our clients from the very beginning. The scale of a project is never the deciding factor — what matters is the relationship, the brief and a shared commitment to doing things properly. Our architects, designers and builders work together under one roof, which means every decision is made with the whole picture in mind. We're equally happy working as part of your existing team — collaborating with your chosen architect or contractor — as we are leading the project ourselves.

THE orangery HOUSE

A family home near Henley-on-Thames that had outgrown itself — ad hoc changes added over the years that no longer suited the way the family lived. After much consideration, the decision was made to start again properly.

HÁM has achieved planning for a full rebuild: a new home inspired by local Georgian vernacular and designed for family life, with generous spaces to live, work and entertain. Architecture, interior architecture and decoration are all being developed together, ensuring the whole house feels cohesive and completely considered from the outset.

Construction is due to begin later this year. A project in progress

HUDSON VALLEY TOY BARN · Upstate New York

Set in New York's Hudson Valley, this new building has been designed as a place to work, create and retreat from the city. Conceived for a young, creative couple in search of a more rural way of life, it is built around one prized possession — a Brooklyn Coachworks Defender.

A workshop, garage and coffee hangout at ground level sit below open-plan living above, carefully positioned to make the most of long views across the surrounding landscape. Seriously practical, without ever compromising on comfort or character.

A project in development.

THE HUNTING LODGE

Overlooking the River Severn, this is a substantial country estate, built in the eighteenth century and grown over the centuries that followed — a house with a long and layered history.

We're leading the restoration and complete reimagining of the estate — adapting the main house for everyday life, while keeping room for guests and extended family. The courtyard buildings are becoming somewhere to exercise and entertain, and a new pool house and kitchen garden will join the grounds.

Architecture, interior architecture, decoration and landscaping are being developed together — one cohesive vision across the site, balancing the building's historic character with the way a family lives now.

Willow HOUSE

Our clients came to us to replace a collection of poorly built workers' cottages with something better suited to its setting — a new home that established a sense of architectural hierarchy while retaining the charm and footprint of what was already there.

The design introduces a Georgian-inspired main wing, creating a clear sense of arrival. Gault brick, timber and restrained detailing reference the original cottages and the local Hertfordshire vernacular.

The original cottages left their mark on the new design. Their scale and arrangement live on in a series of smaller wings, which house the boot room, utility and everyday living spaces — leaving the main wing to hold the principal rooms. The informal character of the original remains, but with a clarity and order it never had before. A project in progress.

COUNTRY Estate pool house

A pool and guest house, part of a large country estate — designed around our client's love of entertaining and hosting. Weatherboard, slate and local stone, with roundel windows and a covered terrace opening onto the pool. A fresh West Country take on the traditional American farmhouse.

Inside, a generous living space, kitchen and self-contained guest house — somewhere away from the main house that can be enjoyed throughout the seasons. The kind of place people arrive for the weekend and never want to leave. A project in progress.
