HÁM was founded by the Cox family. Their work grew out of something they already lived — not formally trained, but shaped by a life spent obsessing over design, collecting beautiful things and endlessly reshaping rooms. For the Coxes, creating beautiful spaces has always been pure instinct. A way of life, not a job.
They share a strong creative vision — but their individual tastes pull it in different directions, and that's exactly what gives HÁM its eclectic edge. Meet Tom, Pamela, Nick and Kate.
Tom designs by instinct; his work reflects his tastes, style and way of living. Shaped by a childhood spent around antiques, fabrics and rooms that were always evolving, he is a natural storyteller who creates architecturally grounded, art-filled rooms with an eclectic edge. He has a particular eye for patina and detail, favouring materials that wear well and age beautifully, with colour drawn from the landscape. For Tom, it's never about following trends, but about creating homes that feel collected, full of depth, and with a strong connection to place.
Pamela is our trusted voice on decoration, guided as much by eye as by decades of experience. She began working alongside her husband Nick at their first shop, The Old Town Furnishers, and has been decorating homes ever since, building a loyal following along the way. Unbound by the conventions of formal training, her style is warm and classically elegant, where comfort and practicality matter as much as beauty. An avid collector of ceramics and antiques, she makes the old feel fresh and personal, creating homes that feel settled, as if gathered over time.
Kate grew up in a world of interiors — long before it became her work, it was simply family life. A designer led by imagination, every project begins with atmosphere — a feeling, a narrative, a world she wants to bring to life. She draws inspiration from everything she loves: folk art, the grand houses and cottage gardens of the English countryside, a shelf of collected ceramics, a dog asleep by the fire. Tradition and folklore run through everything she creates, always balanced with an eye for the unexpected. Designer and curator in equal measure, she collaborates with makers and artisans and hunts out the pieces that make the HÁM world feel like nowhere else.
Nick's style — eclectic, original, and fully his own — was shaped by years of collecting and the kind of practical interior education that only comes from running a shop. He has always cared as much about how things are made as how they look, and was the driving force behind building HÁM's in-house construction capability. These days, he's our roaming curator, moving between salerooms, fairs and markets, always on the hunt for the one-off pieces that make a room feel complete. He remains the team's trusted sounding board, with an instinct for good bones, good materials, and the small details that make a house feel properly resolved.
From a family fabric shop to a design studio working on both sides of the Atlantic - here's how HÁM came to be.
