A former fishermen's net loft overlooking Trevone Bay in North Cornwall — a building with a past you can feel the moment you step inside. Once used to store and mend nets and lobster pots, it has always belonged to the sea. Rather than reaching for obvious seaside references, the design builds a narrative around an imagined eccentric sea captain, threading character and coherence through every room.

Layered blues set the tone, honest materials ground it in its setting — timber-boarded walls, oak floors, aged stone cobbles underfoot. The rooms tell the story room by room: a captain's cabin bed framed by painted coastal birds, a surf gallery for wetsuits and boards, a cinema room clad in reclaimed millboard that feels like the hull of a boat. Antiques sourced from boatyards and reclamation dealers, folk art and commissioned pieces woven throughout — nods to sea, surf and Cornish folklore, with the odd wooden duck thrown in for good measure.

Available to guests through Atlanta Trevone, the Net Loft is best experienced from the inside — waking up in the cabin bed, hunkering down in the games room on a rainy day, discovering a new detail in every corner. There is really only one way to appreciate it fully: stay in it.
